Friends of the Library
Support your Library! Become a Friend.
"The only way to have a friend is to be one."
-- Ralph Waldo Emerson
The Friends of the Burbank Public Library is a volunteer non-profit organization that was incorporated on July 15, 1980. As a group, we are vitally interested in promoting books and the library to our community.
Our three major goals are:
- Expanding public awareness of the library's services, facilities and needs;
- Stimulating gifts of books, magazines, special collections, endowments and bequests;
- Participating in fund-raising activities to lend support to the Library.
Some of the activities funded by the Friends include:
- Children's year-round programming
- Children and Teen Summer Reading Clubs
- Family Night at the Library
- The annual Friends of the Library Amateur Photography Contest
- Cultural and educational programs for adults
The Friends provide financial support and volunteer support to achieve our goals. The proceeds from our fundraising efforts help fund Library programming, some listed above, and purchase special equipment for the Library. The organization also functions as a conduit for tax-deductible gifts to the library, offering such continuing fundraisers as the Adopt-A-Book Program, the Friends' Video Rental Program, and the ongoing Friends' book sales.
Meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of the month (from September through June) at 6:30 P.M. in Burbank Central Library auditorium.
Please join us! Your annual dues, donations of books and money, and memorial gifts are all tax deductible.
