Teen Read Month
Every year we have a WRITING CONTEST as part of Teen Read Month.
This year's theme: FAN FICTION!
Definition of FAN FICTION: When someone takes either the story or characters (or both) of a novel or series, and creates a story based on it. In other words, writing your OWN story, using someone else's characters.
Did you ever wonder what happened BEFORE the book began? Did you love the series but hate the way it ended? Did you ever think, "If only this character had done THIS instead of THAT, everything would have turned out differently!"? Well, this is your chance to HAVE IT YOUR WAY!
Write a FANFIC story 5-10 pages long (we're allowing extra pages for DIALOGUE) and turn it in by OCTOBER 25 at 5:00 p.m. Email it to email@example.com. (You can either attach a Word doc, or you can cut and paste the story into an email.) Please tell us which book or series on which you are basing your story! (Yes, we DO read a lot, but we DON'T read everything, so don't make us guess!)
Library staff will read all the stories, and there will be PRIZES for the top three stories, as well as some honorable mentions. We will announce these on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1, at our Dia de los Muertos Miniature Ofrenda craft! Email firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up for the craft!
Can't wait to read your FANFIC STORIES!
